About this electric strike
An electric strike replaces the standard strike in the door frame so an access control system, keypad or push button can release the door while the lock stays in place. Fail secure strikes stay locked when power is off, and fail safe strikes unlock without power. The strike has to match the latch it works with (cylindrical, mortise or rim exit device), and the frame type and voltage.
Features
- Fail-Safe/Fail-Secure: Field convertible from one mode to the other. However, AC intermittent solenoid must not be used continuously in either.
- Case: Approximately 1” x 3-3/8” x 1-5/8” deep.
- Voltage: Available in 12 or 24 volt AC and DC. DC continuous units are silent, AC intermittent units “buzz” on operation.

Questions and answers
Fail safe or fail secure?
Fail secure keeps the door locked from outside during a power loss, and free egress still comes from the lock's inside lever. Fail safe unlocks without power and is used where code requires the door to release. Your local code and installer decide.
Will it work with my lock?
Check the latch type (cylindrical, mortise or rim exit), the latchbolt projection and the frame (hollow metal, aluminum or wood). Call us with your lock model and we'll confirm.
