Von Duprin model EL9857L-06 3 US3 LHR is an electronic latch retraction, finished in Bright Brass (605/US3). This version: Three Point Latching Device, Lever Trim. Electronic latch retraction lets an access control system or timer pull the latch back remotely, so the door can be set to push/pull during business hours.
About this exit device
Exit devices (panic bars) let anyone leave with a single push on the bar, which is why building codes require them on many assembly, school and commercial egress doors. The device type sets how the door latches: a rim device latches to a strike on the frame, surface vertical rod (SVR) and concealed vertical rod (CVR) devices latch at the top and bottom of the door, and a mortise device uses a lock body set into the door edge. Outside access depends on the trim you pair with it.
