Description
Schlage ND96PDEU RHO 613 Electrified, Fail Secure Lever Lock
Model ND96PDEU RHO 613 pairs Schlage's Grade 1 ND Series chassis with the electrified, fail secure function, the Rhodes (RHO) lever and a Oil-Rubbed Bronze (613/US10B) finish. It runs on 12-24VAC/DC and is fail secure.
How the Electrified, Fail Secure function works
The outside lever is unlocked while power is applied and locks when power is removed, so the opening stays secure during a power loss. The inside lever is always free for exit and a key overrides outside.
This is a Vandlgard model: when locked, the outside lever spins freely instead of resisting force, which protects the lock from people forcing or standing on the lever.
About the ND Series
The Schlage ND Series is the heavy-duty cylindrical lever lock that many architects specify for schools, hospitals, offices and other busy commercial buildings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1, the highest cylindrical lock grade, and is UL listed for use on fire-rated doors. Levers are field reversible, so one lock fits left- or right-hand doors, and the lever shapes meet ADA requirements for operation without tight grasping or twisting.
Because the ND fits a standard 161 cylindrical door prep (2-1/8" bore, 2-3/4" backset), it is a common upgrade when replacing worn or lighter-duty locks without re-machining the door.
Electrified ND locks add a solenoid so an access control system, push button or intercom can lock and unlock the outside lever remotely, while the inside lever always allows free exit. They install in the same cylindrical door prep as a mechanical ND and need a power transfer hinge or door loop to bring wires through the door.

Questions and answers
Will it fit my existing door?
It fits a standard cylindrical prep: 2-1/8" bore with a 2-3/4" backset on doors 1-5/8" to 2-1/8" thick. Other backsets and thin-door kits are available; ask us if your door is different.
Is it fire rated?
The ND Series is UL listed for fire-rated doors when installed with a compatible latch and strike.
Fail safe or fail secure: which do I need?
Fail safe unlocks when power is lost and is often required on stairwell and egress doors; fail secure stays locked and is used where security matters more, like storage and IT rooms. Your local fire code and access control installer have the final say.
